Lost-Property Handoff

Capsule-style resort accommodation used to illustrate property handoff operations

Lost-Property Handoff

A capsule resort lost-property chain-of-custody log records when an item is found, who takes possession, where it is stored, every authorized transfer and the final disposition. It keeps custody visible without placing unnecessary guest information in general shift notes.

The log is not legal ownership, privacy or disposal advice. The property must follow its approved policy, insurer requirements and applicable local rules, including special escalation for hazardous, suspicious or sensitive items.

Record the Find Without Searching the Item

Record the date, time, location and a factual exterior description. Do not open containers, power on devices or inspect private contents unless an authorized procedure specifically requires it. Use a unique record number rather than a guest name as the primary reference.

Control Every Transfer

Protect Privacy and Access

Restrict the record and storage area to approved roles. Record only the claimant information required by verified policy. Avoid posting detailed descriptions publicly that could help an unrelated person make a false claim.

Close the Record Deliberately

Record the authorized recipient, handler, time and evidence required by policy. Keep unclaimed items on the approved retention schedule. Do not dispose of property based on an informal shift message.

The guest turnover checklist supports routine room checks, while the quiet-hours handoff log supports incident continuity. To discuss resort configuration and workflow, contact Rovellc.
