Post-Storm Check

Capsule house exterior and foundation area available for visual observation

Post-Storm Check

A capsule house storm inspection should begin as an access-control and observation task, not as an improvised technical diagnosis. After the event, the responsible site lead can confirm that conditions are safe enough for an authorized observation, record visible changes from a safe position and escalate anything outside the approved release criteria.

Storm effects vary by site, configuration, exposure and local conditions. Only qualified professionals should make structural, electrical, geotechnical or other specialist determinations. Local emergency and authority instructions take priority.

Control the Area Before Observing

Confirm that the weather event has passed according to the site’s approved procedure and that emergency restrictions allow access. Keep people away from standing water, unstable ground, fallen lines, loose materials and visibly displaced components. If safe access is uncertain, stop and escalate without approaching the unit.

Use a Factual Observation Log

AreaRecord from a safe positionControl response
ApproachDebris, water, route obstruction and ground changeRestrict the affected route
Foundation zoneVisible washout, settlement signs or displaced coversDo not diagnose; request review
EnvelopeLoose, missing, cracked or visibly shifted exterior itemsIsolate the nearby area
OpeningsDoor, window, seal and closure condition visible without forceAvoid forced operation
ServicesVisible damage, water exposure, odor or abnormal indicatorsKeep isolated and escalate

Preserve Time, Position and Evidence

Record the observer, date, local time, weather context and exact observation position. Photographs should show an overview and a closer view only when they can be taken safely. Label images without stating an unverified cause. Compare with earlier condition records when available, but do not infer that an unchanged photograph proves hidden systems are unaffected.

Separate Observation from Release

A completed log does not release the unit for occupation. Name the role that can lift each restriction and the evidence that role requires. Track specialist requests, temporary controls and outstanding actions. The maintenance checklist supports later work control, while the post-rain drainage inspection focuses on drainage observations.

Close the Event Record

Keep the original observations, specialist findings, decisions and final release together. Note any recurring site issue for the next readiness review. Use the project’s severe-weather procedure before future events and verify that responsibilities and contact details remain current.
